Used cranes can be good value for money, in comparison to a brand new crane. Much like cars, they will lose value as soon as they have been purchased, so it’s often not worth paying the price of a new crane when a used one can do exactly the same thing. However, how do you know what a fair price is for a used crane and how do you do your research to find out?
A used crane will often be significantly cheaper than a new crane anyway, so you might be pleasantly surprised. If you want to know approximate prices, look at new cranes of the type you are thinking of buying – jib, gantry etc. Then take a look at the difference in price across different suppliers of second hand cranes. You will usually spot a middle ground and will soon be able to work out what represents a fair price.
